17/02/2014 (Agence Europe) - Aromatised wine products. On Monday 17 February, the Council of Ministers of the EU adopted the regulation on the definition, description, presentation, labelling and protection of the geographical indications of aromatised wine products and repealing Regulation (EEC) 1601/91 of the Council. Only France voted against this text, which updates the rules in this field in light of technological innovation, market developments and consumer expectation. In addition, modifications were required, following the entry into force of the Treaty of Lisbon, in order to bring the provisions conferring powers upon the Commission into line (Articles 290 and 291 of the Treaty on the functioning of the European Union).
