Compliance in food packaging

Brussels, 22/01/2014 (Agence Europe) - In mid-January, Tunisia and the EU launched “Technical assistance for the safety of packaging and materials in contact with foodstuffs and the prevention of packaging waste”. The programme aims to bring materials and packaging produced in Tunisia into line on sanitary and environmental levels.

This programme, known as Packtec, gets underway as part of the “support programme for the implementation of the association agreement” and aims to prepare for the implementation of support provisions for bringing the Tunisian economy, which will eventually be integrated into the European market, up to scratch, under the commitment made to negotiate an in-depth free-trade agreement (ALECA).
