16/01/2014 (Agence Europe) - Eurozone inflation 0.8% in December. The European Union's statistical office, Eurostat, confirmed on Thursday 16 January its earlier estimate that annual inflation in the eurozone was 0.8% in December 2013, compared with 0.9% in November. In the EU28, annual inflation stood at 1% in December, the same as November. The lowest annual inflation rates were recorded in Greece (-1.8%), Cyprus (-1.3%) and Bulgaria (-0.9%), and the highest in Estonia, Austria and the United Kingdom (2.0% each). The main input into rising inflation came from electricity, tobacco, cafes and restaurants, while the main price components to fall were telecoms and transport fuel. (MB/transl.fl)
