Brussels, 20/12/2013 (Agence Europe) - The European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) could be used to help 480 employees made redundant by Jabil CM S.r.l. and Anovo Italia S.p.A., both of which are producers of electronic products for the information and communication technology (ICT) sector in Italy, to find new jobs, the European Commission announced on Friday 20 December.
“The proposal adopted today will help the former employees of Anovo and Jabil to get back into work, through training and accompaniment measures”, said Commissioner for Employment Laszlo Andor. Italy requested financial support for 529 former employees of the two companies, but in the end, 480 of them will be able to benefit from the EGF action, if the European Parliament and the Council of the EU give their go-ahead. The Commission explains that the “aid mechanism which has been prepared provides training services, careers advice, skills stock takes, a better match between skills and jobs, business creation assistance and mentoring following the return to the employment market”. Its total cost is expected to be 1.7 million, €1.1 million of which will be provided by the EGF. (JK/transl.fl)
