Brussels, 10/12/2013 (Agence Europe) - President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso and Colombia's President Juan Manuel Santos Calderon will assess the first steps of the free-trade agreement which provisionally entered into force on 1 August.
On 12 December, the provisional implementation of the tripartite free-trade agreement with the EU, of which Peru is also a part, will be the focus of discussions between Barroso and Calderon in Bogota. The EU's support for the peace process in Colombia and the future of bilateral relations are also on the agenda.
Barroso will also visit the headquarters of the Benposta-Nacion de Muchachos charity, to which he will give €500,000 as part of the European Ninos de la Paz initiative. This initiative will dedicate money from the Nobel peace prize given to the EU in 2012 to finance humanitarian projects aiming to help children affected by conflicts through education. (EH/transl.fl)
