12/11/2013 (Agence Europe) - Launch of high-level dialogue. On 12 November, the European Union and Albania launched their high-level dialogue in Tirana. This covers five European priorities for Albania - reform of public administration, justice, the fight against corruption, the fight against organised crime, and the strengthening of human rights protection. The dialogue should help cooperation between the EU and Albania, and support the country so as to maintain emphasis on the reforms and political consensus required for Albania to progress on its European path, said Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Füle. Although, on 16 October, the European Commission recommended granting candidate status to Albania, for it to recommend the opening of accession negotiations, Tirana must make progress in the five areas. EUROPE will return to this. (CG/transl.fl)
