30/10/2013 (Agence Europe) - Mergers: Reggeborgh-Boskalis/VSMC. On 30 October, the European Commission gave the go-ahead to the acquisition of Visser & Smit Marine Contracting B.V. (VSMC) by Reggeborgh and Koninklijke Boskalis Westminster N.V., all of the Netherlands. VSMC installs, services and replaces subsea power cables. Reggeborgh is an investment company, focusing on the non-retail sale of petroleum products and construction services. Boskalis provides marine services on a global scale in dredging, maritime infrastructure, terminal services, salvage, transport, heavy lift and harbour towage. The Commission concluded that the deal, notified on 24 September, would not raise competition concerns given the limited overlaps between the parties, activities and the presence of a number of strong competitors on the relevant markets.
