Many European political leaders, including president of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso and president of the European Parliament Martin Schulz have regretted the loss of the first head of government of the post-Communist Poland, Tadeusz Mazowiecki, who died at dawn on Monday 28 October in a hospital in Warsaw at the age of 86.
