Strasbourg, 10/09/2013 (Agence Europe) - Christian Democratic candidates for the post of president of the European Commission will be made public early in November, said the head of the EPP Group at the European Parliament, Joseph Daul, on Tuesday 10 September.
Daul, a French MEP, said that an important meeting would take place within the EPP on 13 November and is expected to discuss the next European Commission president and get a clearer view on the matter. While the list of candidates is expected to be revealed, the date on which the person selected to lead the Christian Democrats in the May 2014 elections has not yet been decided.
The man or woman from the political party that wins the most seats at the European elections will become the next president of the European Commission in November 2014. The identity of the candidates for each party must be published at least six weeks ahead of the elections (in other words in mid-April 2014). (MD/transl.fl)
