03/09/2013 (Agence Europe) - Mergers: Aqualia-Mitsui/ SmVaK-AII. On 3 September, the European Commission gave the go-ahead to the acquisition of Czech water companies Sveromoravské vodovody a kanalizace Ostrava (SmVaK) and Aqualia Infraestructuras Inženýring (AII) by Spanish water company Aqualia Gestion Integral del Agua S.A. and Mitsui of Japan (iron and steel, non-ferrous metals, electronics, chemicals and energy-related commodities). The Commission says the deal would not raise competition concerns as the overlaps between the parties are very limited. It was examined under the simplified merger control procedure. (FG/transl.fl)
