Brussels, 03/09/2013 (Agence Europe) - Laszlo Baranyay took office as Vice-President and Member of the Management Committee of the European Investment Bank (EIB) on 1 September 2013. He succeeds Anton Rop, who has completed a three-year term as EIB vice-president.
Baranyay, a citizen of the Hungarian Republic, was appointed by the EIB's Board of Governors on the basis of a proposal from Hungary's Minister of National Economy, with the agreement of the shareholder constituency composed of Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Malta, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia. His new duties at the EIB management committee will include supervising operations in a number of member states (Czech Republic, Croatia, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia). He will also serve as Alternate Governor at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), in which the EIB is a shareholder. (OL/transl.fl)
