30/08/2013 (Agence Europe) - Anti-subsidy investigation continues against biodiesel from Argentina and Indonesia without provisional duties. Contrary to what was said in our edition yesterday (EUROPE 10910), the Commission decided, on 9 August, to continue its anti-subsidy investigation relating to biodiesel from Argentina and Indonesia without imposing provisional countervailing duties, as the association of European bio-diesel producers (EBB) had advocated. EBB was at the origin of two anti-dumping and anti-subsidy complaints filed in 2012. Provisional anti-dumping measures were, on the other hand, adopted at the end of May against Argentine and Indonesian biodiesel (see EUROPE 10853). Definitive anti-dumping and anti-subsidy duties will nonetheless be decided on 29 November and 10 December this year respectively. Since 2010, the market share of biodiesel from Argentina and Indonesia, which represents close to 90% of total biodiesel imports into the EU, went from 0% to nearly 30% of the European market in 2012.
