30/08/2013 (Agence Europe) - WTO Director General Azevêdo appoints four deputies. The new WTO director general, Roberto Azevêdo, who was previously ambassador for Brazil at the multilateral organisation and who is to take up his post on 1 September, has announced the appointment as deputy director general of four diplomats representing the major global trading powers (United States, Europe and China) as well as Africa. The appointments go to the representative of Germany in Council within the trade policy committee, Karl-Ernst Brauner, the ambassador for China at the WTO, Yi Xiaozhun, the ambassador for Nigeria at the WTO, Yonov Frederick Agah, and the deputy permanent representative for the United States with the WTO, David Shark. Tim Yeend, who has been the ambassador for Australia at the WTO for the past three years, will take up the post of chef de cabinet for the new director general. (EH/transl.jl)
