EIB lends €50 million to SMEs

Brussels, 01/08/2013 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 31 July, the European Investment Bank (EIB) signed two loans worth a total of €50 million in Serbia with the Crédit Agricole Group in order to finance SMEs, in particular, and also infrastructure projects promoted by local authorities.

The recipients of these loans will put together projects in the areas of knowledge economy, energy, environment, protection, industry, health, education and services. “The two contracts signed with Crédit Agricole will improve the access of Serbian SMEs to long-term financing provided on favourable terms, with positive effects on job market and social environment” , said Dario Scannapieco from the EIB. The two loans come as part of the support that the EU gives Serbia for its efforts to integrate into the EU, a press release states. (JK/transl.fl)
