Beer tax in France is discriminatory, say EU brewers

Brussels, 22/07/2013 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 18 July, the Federation of Belgian Brewers filed a complaint with the European Commission, challenging the rise in excise duty applied to beer in France.

This complaint comes on top of the one submitted by the Brewers of Europe to the Commission on Monday 15 July. Sven Gatz, the president of the Belgian Brewers stated that “we think there has been a breach of the regulation and principles of European law”. He added that “the...
