Brussels, 16/07/2013 (Agence Europe) - The international police organisation, Interpol, based in Lyons, and Eurojust, the European agency responsible for judicial cooperation between member states, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in The Hague on Monday 15 July. The purpose of the MoU is to improve the work they undertake together in the fight against serious and organised crime, maritime piracy, drug trafficking, people smuggling, terrorism and fraud, a Eurojust press release states.
Each organisation will establish a contact point to coordinate cooperation. The MoU also includes the possibility of organising joint training activities, exchanging expertise and best practice in areas of common interest, exchanging strategic and technical information, and combining efforts to provide expertise and support to joint investigation teams.
