03/07/2013 (Agence Europe) - Liquidity problems for BoC: ECB declines to budge. The Bank of Cyprus (BoC), the results of the asset evaluation of which are set to be announced in mid-July, needs to be brought out of the resolution framework as soon as possible, the ECB stated on Wednesday 3 July at a meeting with the Cypriot authorities. The authorities had travelled to Frankfurt in the hope of obtaining a little leeway over the €9 billion in emergency liquidity assistance (ELA) taken out by the Laiki bank prior to the financial bailout of Cyprus and which have now been transferred to BoC (see EUROPE 10877).
