Brussels, 03/07/2013 (Agence Europe) - On 2 July, the European Commission approved of €320,000 of investment aid for improving and updating infrastructure at the Finnish regional airport of Vaasa to meet increasing demand from airlines and passengers. Following an investigation, it emerged that the project, notified in May 2013, will pursue a common EU objective (improving regional connectivity) without unduly distorting competition in the internal market. Vaasa airport is owned and operated by Finavia Oyj, a limited liability company fully owned by the Finnish state, which is covering more than 60% of the investment costs. The Commission says that the project complies with EU state aid rules. (FG/transl.fl)
