Brussels, 25/06/2013 (Agence Europe) - The trade unions have strongly reaffirmed their opposition to the Single European Sky 2+. In a declaration dated 24 June, the European Transport Workers Federation (ETF), which represents European air traffic controllers and managers, called for the total rejection of this package because it threatened employment and working conditions. The unions also denounce the attempt to liberalise the air traffic control sector, putting economic considerations above safety. They also deplore the fact that the Commission is seeking to separate support services and describe the manoeuvre as “dogmatic and unjustified” and which will lead to further fragmentation of the sector. The ETF warns the European institutions that, by supporting this package, they are at risk of losing the support of air traffic controllers in the implementation of the European Single Sky.
