03/06/2013 (Agence Europe) - Fresh talks between European Parliament and Bernardino Leon in sight. On 30 May, Véronique de Keyser MEP (S&D, Belgium) announced that the European Parliament was “soon” going to have fresh talks with the special representative for the Mediterranean, Bernardino Leon, to discuss the Parliament's request to set up a team of investigators, prosecutors, lawyers and experts to provide advice, and legal and technical assistance, to the Arab Spring countries (especially Egypt, Libya and Tunisia), and help them recover their stolen assets - as proposed in the resolution adopted on 23 May (see EUROPE 10851). “We will work with the European Commission and the European External Action Service, in cooperation with other countries that are playing a key role in this domain, like Switzerland and the United States”, she added.
