Consultation on Single European Sky performance scheme

Brussels, 21/05/2013 (Agence Europe) - Stakeholders of the Single European Sky Performance Scheme are invited to give their opinion regarding the Union-wide targets for the Single European Sky for the second reference period 2015-2019. The European Commission opened a public consultation exercise to this end on 17 May. It will be open until 3 July this year.

The consultation is part of the process leading to the adoption of binding member state targets for safety, environment, capacity, and cost-efficiency in the aviation sector, as planned for development of the Single European Sky. These targets must contribute to attaining the goal set by this project, that is, the goal of making flights less expensive, more punctual, and more environmentally-friendly, while doing away with costs that are pointless for passengers and airlines.

The objectives for the period 2015-2019 must be established by the European Commission by the end of the year. The Commission will base its proposal on a report by the performance assessment body, which will itself take inspiration from the responses collected during the public consultation. The proposal will be submitted early September. (MD/transl.jl)
