Brussels, 17/05/2013 (Agence Europe) - On 20 May, “Maritime Europe” will be celebrated at Valletta, in Malta. The European Maritime Day will focus on the development of coastal areas and sustainable maritime tourism as benchmark themes.
The sixth edition of the conference on the Maritime Day will take place on 21 and 22 May and will cover the contribution made by these areas to the “blue economy”. The conference will provide a forum for debate by numerous European specialists.
European Commissioner Maria Damanaki, who is in charge of maritime affairs and fisheries, will attend, as will Edward Zammit-Lewis, the Maltese parliamentary secretary responsible for competition and economic growth. Zammit-Lewis will open the first events relating to the European Maritime Day on 19 May. (MD/transl.jl)
