Brussels, 06/05/2013 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 6 May, the European Commission approved the French application for the inclusion of “Moules de Bouchot”on the list of Traditional Specialities Guaranteed (TSG). The name refers to the cultivation of mussels on vertical stakes, arranged in straight lines, which are fully or partly exposed at low tide.
The decision of the European Commission is to be published in the Official Journal of the EU in the next few days. This name will then join the list of more than 1,100 products already protected under the legislation on the protection of geographical indications, designations of origin and traditional specialities. “Moules de bouchot de la Baie du Mont-Saint-Michel” are already registered as a PDO (protected designation of origin).
