Brussels, 18/04/2013 (Agence Europe) - In Riga on 17 April, the European emergency number association (EENA) rewarded eight emergency services and citizens' initiatives for conducting key initiatives promoting the European emergency number, 112. The initiatives come from Croatia, Finland, France, Latvia, the Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia and Romania. The award ceremony was held in parallel to an EU emergency workshop. Candidacies were examined by a panel of five independent experts and the EENA made the final choice. Olivier-Paul Morandini, the president and founder of EENA, said competition was tough and the level of candidates was excellent but some outshone the others.
