Brussels, 19/03/2013 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 18 March 2013, the European Investment Bank (EIB) and EADS signed a €300 million financing deal for innovation and R&D at EADS, the second instalment of a deal signed in August 2011, under which the EIB has already provided the company with half a million euro. The new financing deal brings total EIB aid to €800 million.
The EIB cash is to be used to encourage the development of innovative products to reduce the negative effect of aviation on the environment by reducing fuel consumption, damaging exhaust fumes and noise pollution. The money should be used to directly influence design and manufacturing, improving airline aerodynamics and optimising security and flight control. (OL/transl.fl)
