EXTERNAL ACTION / (ae) trade

22/02/2013 (Agence Europe) - Anti-dumping, duty on American bio-ethanol. On 18 February, the Council adopted a regulation bringing in definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of bio-ethanol from the United States to be used as fuel. The duty has been laid down at €62.3 per net tonne, on the basis of a dumping margin assessed at 9.5%. The anti-dumping procedure was opened at the end of 2011 further to a complaint brought by the European association of ethanol producers, e-Pure, which represents more than 25% of the total production of bio-ethanol in the EU. The American exports in question are worth more than €700 million a year. An anti-subsidy procedure targeting these same imports of American bio-ethanol was also launched in late 2012, but did not lead to any measures. (EH/transl.fl)
