Brussels, 18/12/2012 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 20 December, ministers responsible for telecommunications will be meeting up in the afternoon for the “Transport, Telecommunications and Energy Council” in Brussels. The Cypriot minister for communications and public works, Efthymios Flourentzou, will chair the council meeting. The programme will be a light one because no political agreement is expected for this Council session. The Cypriot presidency is hoping for the adoption of a report on progress regarding the draft regulation of electronic identification and services promoting confidence in e-commerce in the internal market. Ministers will also be informed about work on the draft regulation regarding orientations on Trans-European Networks for communications and the draft directive on reusing public sector information. The presidency will also inform ministers about the progress achieved over the past six months on the draft regulation on ENISA, the European Network Information Security Agency, which is expected to extend and prolong this agency's mission over the next few years. The Cypriots would have liked to have concluded an agreement with the European Parliament last week but this did not prove possible. The agreement will be finalised under the Irish presidency.
