Brussels, 12/12/2012 (Agence Europe) - The Ukrainian foreign minister has taken formal note of the Foreign Affairs Council conclusions of 10 December and welcomed the EU's commitment to signing the association agreement whose swift entry into force is in the interest of the two parties. According to the minister, implementing the EU-Ukraine Association Agenda, resuming the sectoral budget and micro-financial assistance, pursuing proactive cooperation in the framework of bilateral bodies and launching the recent informal dialogues, particularly the one on legal reform and climate affairs will facilitate the creation of a basis for implementing the future association agreement.
The minister underlined that Ukraine would meet its commitment and pursue the reform process. He also explained that the Ukrainian government was seeking to take the necessary measures for achieving significant progress. The minister added that, a stronger additional boost to these changes should be provided by applying the association agreement as soon as it is signed.
The minister also asserted that the transition to the execution phase of the dialogue on visas and the entry into force of the visa facilitation agreement will be priorities for the next few months.
He pointed out that the next EU-Ukraine summit, whose date has not yet been set, would be an important occasion for discussing all cooperation issues with the EU at the most senior level. (CG/transl.fl)
