06/12/2012 (Agence Europe) - EU General Court cancels Council's inclusion of the Qualitest FZE company on black list. In a judgment returned on 5 December, the General Court of the European Union cancelled the acts that in May 2011 included Qualitest FZE - a United Arab Emirates company - on the list of the regulation of 23 May 2011 on European sanctions against Iran, which led to economic sanctions including a freeze on the company's assets. The General Court ruled that the Council had not provided any reason to maintain inclusion of the company in this regulation and recognised the manifest error of the Council in including Qualitest FZE on the list of persons subject to an assets freeze. The Council had sanctioned the company believing that it was participating in the purchase of components for the Iranian nuclear programme. (CG/transl.fl)
