EXTERNAL ACTION / (ae) egypt

28/11/2012 (Agence Europe) - IMF warns against change of economic policy. On 27 November, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) warned against a major change in Egypt's economic policy which could call into question the pre-agreement on a plan for aid of €4.8 billion. The IMF states in a press release that the examination of this agreement by the IMF Board of Governors requires that there be no major change in the economic outlook and policies planned in Egypt, where President Morsi has just granted himself full power. On its side, the EU told EUROPE that there is currently no discussion for a freeze on the EU's €5 billion financial aid as a result of President Morsi's declaration - a freeze demanded by Marietje Schaake MEP (ALDE, Netherlands) (see EUROPE 10738).
