Antonio Tajani heads business delegation on visit

Brussels, 26/11/2012 (Agence Europe) - Antonio Tajani, the vice-president of the European Commission and commissioner for business and industry, left for a two-day visit to Morocco on Monday before his scheduled visit to Tunisia. Before leaving, he granted an interview with the Moroccan press agency, MAP, during which he spoke of the EU's resolve to contribute to the modernisation of the Moroccan economy and to intensify industrial cooperation and technical and financial support. Tajani added that the EU plans to step up its economic cooperation with the Kingdom of Morocco to boost employment.

The economic mission that Tajani is heading is composed of representatives from several organisations and business federations. The aim is to promote investment in the Maghreb and also to encourage the internationalisation of European businesses and their experience in emerging countries, such as Morocco. The latter is presented by Tajani as a “privileged partner” where the volume of European investment is close to one billion euro.

According to MAP, Tajani spoke of Europe's intention to promote economic integration between the southern Mediterranean countries, above all during this time of economic gloom when markets are very fragmented, which hinders large-scale savings and business partnerships at the regional level.
