31/10/2012 (Agence Europe) - Appeal by François Hollande to resume negotiations. On Wednesday 31 October, the French president, François Hollande, appealed to the Israelis and Palestinians to discuss the possibility of an “unconditional” resumption of negotiations on the peace process. He made this appeal at the end of his meeting with the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu. Netanyahu pointed out that he was “prepared” to negotiate without any preliminary conditions, despite the Palestinians stipulating that any resumption of discussions would require a halt to further settlements being built. Hollande explained that, “there is also the temptation for the Palestinian Authority to go to the UN General Assembly to obtain what it failed to get in negotiations … It is only by way of negotiations that a definitive solution will be found to the Palestinian situation”.
