23/10/2012 (Agence Europe) - Date of “troika's” return to Nicosia to be known soon. On Tuesday 23 October, the European Commission acknowledged receipt of a package of formal counterproposals sent by the Cypriot authorities. Simon O'Connor, the spokesman for the Commissioner responsible for the euro, Olli Rehn, explained that they would now examine in detail the date of the next troika mission (the Commission, the European Central Bank and the IMF) to Cyprus, which would be known very shortly. According to the spokesperson for the Cypriot government, Stefanos Stefanou, the package proposed by Nicosia also contains measures aiming to stimulate growth which had not been addressed by the troika or included in the memorandum.
