Adoption of agreement on EU-Cape Verde visa facilitation

Brussels, 16/10/2012 (Agence Europe) - On 15 October, the Council of the EU adopted a decision on the signature of an agreement on visa facilitation between the EU and the Republic of Cape Verde. The issue of short-stay visas (90 days maximum per period of 180 days) will be facilitated for certain categories of Cape Verde nationals - such as students, researchers, business people and journalists, a Council press release states. This agreement should be followed at the beginning of 2013 by the signature of an agreement on EU-Cape Verde readmission through which Cape Verde will commit to taking back its migrants who have entered the EU illegally. The two agreements will come into force at the same time, most probably in the summer of 2013.
