09/10/2012 (Agence Europe) - Three finalists are shortlisted for prize. Ales Bialiatski, a human rights defender from Belarus; Nasrin Sotoudeh, a human rights lawyer and the film-maker, Jafar Panahi; and the members of Russian punk group Pussy Riot; are the three finalists in the running to receive the Sakharov Prize 2012, further to the vote by the relevant European Parliament committees cast on Tuesday 9 October. The winner will be announced on Friday 26 October once the conference of the presidents has made its decision. The winner will receive €50,000 and the prize awarding ceremony will be held in Strasbourg on 12 December. (CG/transl.jl)
