Brussels, 11/09/2012 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 10 September, Commissioner for Enlargement Stefan Füle called on the citizens of Kosovo to unite in order to enable the continuation of dialogue with Serbia on the problem of the north of Kosovo. “I urge all people in Kosovo to come together and unite to ensure that Kosovo continues to engage constructively with Serbia so that both Kosovo and Serbia can advance on their chosen paths to the European Union”, he said in Pristina at the celebration of Kosovo's accession to full sovereignty. Füle told the Kosovar political leaders that the framework of European integration “allows you to address your disagreements in a constructive and indeed forward-looking manner”. “To achieve success, it is key that the leaders of all Kosovo's communities work together to build a shared vision and a common future”, he added. The commissioner stressed that the EU was “ready to support all parties to address these concerns and to find a way forward through dialogue”.
Füle also called the local leaders to support the reforms, saying that a consensus of the political parties around the European idea was “sorely missing”. He continued that the EU was counting on them for all the communities to be involved in this process and for building a Kosovo with “a common vision of its future in the European Union”.
