11/09/2012 (Agence Europe) - High Commissioner of the United Nations for Human Rights Navi Pillay says she is concerned after the recent closures of Roma camps in France, and has asked for Paris to make “additional efforts” to integrate these people, AFP reports. “I recognise that a certain number of measures have been taken by the government, but additional efforts must be made to remedy this situation in the framework of the national strategy for the integration of the Roma, and in full conformity with international standards on human rights”, she said when she attended the opening of the 21st session of the UN Human Rights Council at the beginning of the week. This call comes as the French ministers of the interior, Manuel Valls, and foreign affairs, Bernard Cazneneuve, are in Romania this Wednesday to discuss the situation of the Roma with the country's authorities.
