12/07/2012 (Agence Europe) - T&E wants 2025 objective on fuel efficiency quality. On Wednesday 11 July, the NGO Transport & Environment (T&E) welcomed the European Commission proposal on arrangements for implementing the 2020 objectives on reducing emissions from cars and vans (see EUROPE 10653) in that they confirm fuel efficiency standards for new cars, but, it says, the target needs to be stronger: 80g of CO2 emissions per kilometre (rather than 95g/km) “is feasible and affordable and would save drivers around €650 per year, and even more substantial savings could have been possible if a 2025 target of 60g CO2 had been set”.
