Brussels, 02/07/2012 (Agence Europe) - The names of the ten films competing for this year's LUX Prize was unveiled at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (Czech Republic) by European Parliament Vice-President Oldrich Vlasak and MEP Katarina Nevedalova. The official selection is: (1) À perdre la raison (Our Children) by Joachim Lafosse; (2) Barbara by Christian Petzold; (3) Cesare deve morire (Caesar Must Die) by Paolo and Vittorio Taviani; (4) Crulic - drumul spre dincolo (Crulic - The Path to Beyond) by Anca Damian; (5) Csak a szél (Just the Wind) by Bence Fliegauf; (6) Djeca (Children of Sarajevo) by Aida Begic; (7) Io sono Li (Shun Li and the Poet) by Andrea Segre; (8) L'enfant d'en haut (Sister) by Ursula Meier; (9) Louise Wimmer by Cyril Mennegun; (10) Tabu by Miguel Gomes. The three final three candidate films will be revealed on 24 July and will be screened between 16 October and 20 November in all 27 member states. The winner will be announced on 21 November. The LUX Prize, established in 2007, is awarded annually by the European Parliament to films which illustrate or promote debate of the fundamental values of European identity and explore cultural diversity in Europe. It aims to stimulate public debate on the European Union (EU) and its values and to promote the production and circulation of European films within the EU. (IL/transl.rt)
