Brussels, 13/06/2012 (Agence Europe) - In a press release, the Veneto region has expressed its concern about the impact on the tourist sector of the earthquake that affected the Emilia-Romagna region recently. Just before the summer holidays begin, Lake Garda regional tourist establishments have seen a number of cancellations, regretted the spokesperson for the Veneto region in Brussels, Federico Grandesso. The Trento provincial authorities, together with those from Lombardy and Veneto fear that the combination of economic crisis and the earthquake will have a disastrous impact on tourism industry in the North-East of Italy and put its summer season at risk. The Veneto region highlights that the quality of its tourism industry has not been affected, particularly the Lake Garda region, which remains a favourite tourist destination. The regional authorities emphasise: “We are convinced that the value for money of holidays in the Lake Garda region are among the most competitive and are certainly able to meet the expectations of a wide customer base”.
