Brussels, 23/05/2012 (Agence Europe) - On 24 May in Tunis, the European Commission organised a seminar on the launch of the EU-Tunisia eco-construction twinning objective. This seminar was organised in liaison with the country's authorities. The objective is to promote an energy-saving environment and behaviour. “The construction sector is the third biggest energy consumer in Tunisia. It consumes more than 30% of the country's natural resources” and this is expected to increase up until 2030 when it will become the biggest user of resources in the country, explained the seminar organisers.
This action is part of the EU's Support Programme for an Association Agreement and Neighbourhood Action Plan “P3AII”. The Euro-Tunisian team set up will have the task of implementing this EU funded (€1200 million) two-year twinning project (March 2012-February 2014). (FB/transl.fl)
