Brussels, 08/05/2012 (Agence Europe) - On Europe Day, Wednesday, 9 May, European Union culture ministers will present an element of their respective national heritage that is particularly representative of their culture and which will be chosen from the digital Europeana library. During this event, the commissioner in charge of the Digital Agenda, Neelie Kroes, will launch the “Hack4Europe2012!” competition. This will reward designers of the best Smartphone and iPad applications for promoting access to cultural heritage. Europeana currently provides access to more than 23 million cultural works in 29 languages. The Commission intends to provide access to 30 million objects by 2015. (IL/transl.fl)
