Brussels, 02/05/2012 (Agence Europe) - In Scy-Chazelles, on the hillsides of the region of Metz, where Robert Schuman's house is located, events to accompany celebrations of 9 May 1950 will include several high points, with the involvement of the General Council of the Moselle, the C.E.R.S. (Robert Schuman Europe Centre), the R. Schuman Institute for Europe and the R. Schuman Association.
This “Europe week” will open on Monday 7 May with a colloquium entitled “Europe and the Mediterranean: the stakes of the new democracies”, which will also be attended by politicians and journalists from the other shore of the Mediterranean. The president of the Robert Schuman Association, Paul Collowald, will draw the conclusions from these debates, which will take place on the same site as the last reflection of Robert Schuman on the themes of Peace and Reconciliation, which are the substance of the text of 9 May 1950, inspired by Jean Monnet and which have been confirmed as still being largely relevant today.
