Brussels, 27/04/2012 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 26 April, the Court of Justice of the EU backed up the European Commission against the Netherlands, in its ruling (Case C-508/10) that the member states may not demand excessive fiscal charges to grant residency permits to nationals of third countries resident for long periods and their families. The level of fiscal charges may not, it argues, constitute an obstacle to the exercise of rights acknowledged by Union law.
