Arlene McCarthy wants prison sentences for insider dealing

Brussels, 16/04/2012 (Agence Europe) - British Labour MEP Arlène McCarthy wants prison sentences to be introduced for the worst cases of insider dealing, as suggested by the European Commission (see EUROPE 10476). McCarthy, who is a rapporteur for the EP, said during a committee debate at the European Parliament last week that civil court hearings could not replace criminal court hearings for insider dealing and the two should exist side-by-side.
