Brussels, 04/04/2012 (Agence Europe) - The notorious Eurosceptic Vaclav Klaus, president of the Czech Republic, hopes that his country will give up on the idea of joining the euro, explaining to French newspaper Les Echos on Thursday 5 April 2012 his ideas on the sovereign debt crisis that he says is condemning Europe to permanent stagnation and the eurozone to political and budget unification budgétaire simply in order to survive. He said the European crisis goes much deeper than people think and it was not imported from elsewhere, but is well and truly European. The eurozone debt crisis, he said, is the logical consequence of constructing a monetary union among countries whose economies are so different. The true aim of the politicians leading the eurozone is budget and political union, which is needed for the euro to survive. The consequence of the crisis will be a strengthening of budget and political union, he asserted, adding that there are two ways of ensuring continuation of the euro - either total loss of sovereignty for eurozone countries or a smaller eurozone.
