New head of Commission's representation in Milan

Brussels, 02/04/2012 (Agence Europe) - Today, Fabrizio Spada will be taking up his duties as head of the regional representation in Milan, the European Commission announced on Monday 2 April. Currently press attaché to the regional representation of the European Commission in Milan, Spada brings to his new post 15 years' experience in the service of the European Commission. Since he joined the Commission in 1996, he has worked in the Directorate General in charge of employment, social affairs and inclusion, and for the Directorate General for agricultural development.

“Mr Spada's rich experience and his background in economics, finance and law, should enable the Commission Regional Office in Milan to play a key role in communicating with local citizens and the media”, said the Commission. Additionally, his past experience and sound knowledge of the workings of a Commission Regional Office will be a useful asset for close and effective cooperation with the Italian authorities, just as they are preparing to take on the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of 2014 and to organise the Milan EXPO 2015 on the subject “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life”. The Commission has representations in the 27 member states of the EU, plus regional representations in Barcelona, Belfast, Bonn, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Marseille, Milan, Munich and Wroclaw.
