E-Twinning awards ceremony in Berlin

Brussels, 29/03/2012 (Agence Europe) - Some 500 teachers will meet in Berlin between 29 and 31 March to exchange ideas on future eTwinning initiatives and to see recognised the year's best eTwinning projects involving schools from Italy, the United Kingdom, Poland, France, Turkey, Spain, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Greece, Romania, Portugal and Slovenia. In all, six winning projects were selected from more than 300 submissions and are divided into three age categories: 4-11, 12-15 and 16-19. “eTwinning is much more than an online support tool to promote ICT at schools. It has created a grassroots community and become a catalyst for change in many schools”, said Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth Commissioner Androulla Vassiliou, hailing the enthusiasm of teachers and pupils. The Commission's eTwinning scheme is now in its eighth year. It involves more than 155,000 teachers in 31 countries who are using information and communication technologies (ICT) to set up cross-border educational projects. (IL/transl.rt)
