Brussels, 22/03/2012 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 22 March, Poland and the Czech Republic were sent a reasoned opinion by the Commission for failing to notify the Commission that the transposition process for Directive 2010/30/EU on energy labelling was complete. Infringement procedures relate to energy labelling covering all energy-relevant products, their advertising and their use in public procurement. Both member states - that had already been called to order with a letter of formal notice in July 2011 - now have two months in which to comply with the legal obligations, or else they will be referred to the Court of Justice. In a press release, the Commission speaks of the essential role played by the directive in promoting energy efficiency and consumer awareness. (EH/transl.jl)
