Brussels, 13/03/2012 (Agence Europe) - On the occasion of the 6th World Water Forum, held in Marseilles on 12-17 March, the European Investment Bank (EIB) announced on Tuesday 13 March that it participated in the international solidarity movement in favour of the Palestinian people aimed at giving the Gaza territory an ambitious seawater desalination plan to produce, in time, 100 million cubic metres of fresh water, completed by the recasting of the drinking water distribution system for 1.6 million inhabitants of Gaza. Alongside the Arab and European donors convened in Marseilles by French Prime Minister François Fillon and Dr Salam Fayyad, Prime Minister of the Palestinian Authority, the EIB pointed out that it provided technical expertise on the technical definition of the project and its operating framework, as well as for the management of donations granted by the international community.
